Alternative essay topic

For those who would prefer a more technical essay topic, rather than a written essay, the following assignment is an option.

1. Read sections 6-1 and 6-2 of Resnik, on social choices.
2. Provide a two-paragraph summary of these two sections (one paragraph for each section).
3. Do as many of the problems in these sections as possible (there are thirteen altogether).

The grade will be based on my assessment of your ability to learn this material independently. Rather than provide a definite grade schedule, my intention is to use your written summary and solved problems to determine how well you have grasped the ideas in the book. For instance, a "B" grade represents a basic-level understanding while an "A" grade represents a very thorough understanding.
