Welcome to the course home page. Here I will post homeworks, lecture
notes and other messages.
You can get a syllabus here.
I have office hours Fridays 1:15-2:30 or by
appointment. If you want to arrange an appointment outside regular
office hours or if you have questions that are easily answered in
emailing my friendly customer service department at mailto:penorman@interchange.ubc.ca
Lectures are Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 12:00-1:00
in Henn 202.
There is a review session with your TA Subrata Sarker Fridays 3:00-4:00
in Lasr 102.
Moreover, Subrata holds office hours 11:00-12:30 Thursdays at
Auditorium Annex 248 and Fridays 2:30-3:00.
Most of what you'll learn in this class will be learnt
by applying the ideas from the lecture notes to the homework problems.
You should therefore take the homework problems very very seriously and
expect to spend lots of time solving these.

A Warning on the notes and the
homeworks. There may (will) be some typos and other errors. You do your
classmates a favor if you email me if typos are found in either the
notes or the homework problems. I will correct glitches as soon as I
can.
