Paul Russell is Professor in Philosophy at the University of British Columbia, where he has been teaching since 1987. He has held a number of research and teaching positions, including Cambridge University (1984-87); the University of Virginia (1988); Stanford University (1989-90); and the University of Pittsburgh (1996-97). In 2005 he was Kenan Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His published work includes Freedom and Moral Sentiment: Hume's Way of Naturalizing Responsibility (Oxford University Press, 1995) and The Riddle of Hume's Treatise: Skepticism, Naturalism, and Irreligion (Oxford University Press: 2008). In 2007 he was awarded a UBC Killam Teaching Prize. For the Fall term of 2010 (September - November) Paul Russell will be Fowler Hamilton Visiting Fellow at Christ Church, Oxford. During the Winter term of 2011 he will be a Visiting Fellow, Centre for Ethics, Philosophy and Public Affairs; University of St. Andrews, Scotland.
