Rising Ground Plane
Primitive artists intuitively realize that figures in the distance appear higher up in our field of vision. We will discuss later exactly what is meant by 'primitive', but this method of describing space seems a good place to start the discussion. Luke Anguhadluq and Pitseolak Ashoona have placed each figure on a different ground plane to allow each to have its own space. We read this as depth, but it also allows the most descriptive rendering of each figure.
